Current Book I'm Reading
Actually I'm listening to The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins 6 CD's worth, it's very good. He's a compelling read, and to hear him in his own words is very engaging. He's a very clear thinker and blows away the cobwebs of the woolly minded to completely mix my metaphors. Clear, concise philosophical debate easily understood by all.
Next Book I'm Going to Read
OK, it's actually three, Philip Pullman's His Dark Material's Trilogy is on the list Jem's badgered me for years to read it, and I'm gonna start. The recent furore surrounding the film of the book has surprised me, as the books have been around for a while now and seem to fly under the religous radar. Stick it in a film and the flag goes up. Maybe this says more about the protestors? Reading maybe not a strong suit?
Next Book I'm Going to Buy
God is Not Great in which Christopher Hitchens places God in the dock and charges him with various crimes and misdemeanors. If his political writing has anything to go by this will be a cracking read. Here's a quote, "monotheistic religion is a plagiarism of a plagiarism of a hearsay of a hearsay, of an illusion of an illusion, extending all the way back to a fabrication of a few nonevents." Woo and indeed hoo, the ride is gonna be great!
