I love a good "caper" movie. It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad, World is a fave, so is Monte Carlo or Bust, and the all time great Gumball Rally. As a kid I always wanted to go on a totally spurious chase across the country for nefarious reasons to a secret destination which would be laden with gold!
FFW many, ahem, many years and now I get the opportunity to do that very thing. I would love to do the Gumball 3000 race, a chase across Europe in the spirit of the Gumball tradition. However with seats at £10 000 a pop it was slightly out of reach. The dream was still just that until I discovered the following!
www.coyote-rally.co.uk It's a four day chase across Europe;
Calais ---> Paris ---> Munich ---> Prague ---> Amsterdam
But wait, it gets better.
How Stuart?
Thanks for asking. The 1500 mile journey must be completed in a car which costs no more than £500.
Woo and indeed hoo! My very own caper! We are Team 2 - Dead Stupid Drivers and although I will be schlepping around Europe for my own satisfaction I thought that I could also do it so that other benefited.
Someone near and dear to me has been diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease which I have decided is to be my chosen charity and if you feel so moved you may donate to it here;

As soon as I have the car I will post a pic. If you fancy some corporate sponsorship then contact me, space will be made available on the car for anyone wishing to have their logo splashed all over it!
I leave crackers out all night and they go soft and uncrumbley.
I leave bread out all night and it goes all hard and crumbley.
Just WTF?
Wish I'd paid more attention at college, oh well...
Current Book I'm Reading
Actually I'm listening to The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins 6 CD's worth, it's very good. He's a compelling read, and to hear him in his own words is very engaging. He's a very clear thinker and blows away the cobwebs of the woolly minded to completely mix my metaphors. Clear, concise philosophical debate easily understood by all.
Next Book I'm Going to Read
OK, it's actually three, Philip Pullman's His Dark Material's Trilogy is on the list Jem's badgered me for years to read it, and I'm gonna start. The recent furore surrounding the film of the book has surprised me, as the books have been around for a while now and seem to fly under the religous radar. Stick it in a film and the flag goes up. Maybe this says more about the protestors? Reading maybe not a strong suit?
Next Book I'm Going to Buy
God is Not Great in which Christopher Hitchens places God in the dock and charges him with various crimes and misdemeanors. If his political writing has anything to go by this will be a cracking read. Here's a quote, "monotheistic religion is a plagiarism of a plagiarism of a hearsay of a hearsay, of an illusion of an illusion, extending all the way back to a fabrication of a few nonevents." Woo and indeed hoo, the ride is gonna be great!
Where did you go?!
I take great pleasure in the fact that I know this song word for word. :) read more
